Our testing has found most document collections to contain more than 50% redundancy meaning you are maintaining twice as much content as you need to... at twice the expense. It also means that you are most likely updating the same content multiple times potentially through multiple divisions expending precious resources, time & money. The content reuse assessment allows you to analyze a significant cross-section of your document set & get back objective reuse statistics as well as specific identification of duplicate & near duplicate instances. For an initial assessment, we suggest analyzing 5,000-10,000 pages. We can perform the content reuse assessment on as large of a collection as you prefer but that would increase your costs & is best considered as a next step. We suggest limiting the content reuse assessment to 2-3 formats, preferably Word, Frame, SGML, XML or Interleaf. Many other formats such as HTML, PDF & paper are supported, but adding formats will also add to your cost.
DCL's Harmonizer™ Service Levels
Our content reuse assessment service is provided through the use of Harmonizer™, our proprietary software solution. Harmonizer™ is capable of processing & analyzing 1000's of pages at a time to identify & eliminate redundant content in document collections. It identifies redundant content at multiple levels of match including exact, similar & dissimilar granules. DCL also provides an optional service to resolve & correct variations in the documents.
Once the variations are identified, Harmonizer™ can update files, insert effectivity & conditional information then produce files suitable for direct loading to a Content Management System (CMS) or an Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM). The harmonization of your content is performed as an optional service.
