POSITION DESCRIPTION
PROJECT MANAGER-DATA ANALYST
Data Conversion Laboratory (DCL) is the nation's leading electronic
data conversion service bureau. A closely-held business founded in 1981
in Queens, New York, DCL is expert at capturing, converting, and tagging
text and images from client information sources to and from all major
formats, primarily converting to XML, SGML and similarly structured
formats. DCL employs experienced professionals in a variety of
technical, marketing, sales, and administrative positions.
Role and Responsibilities
The Project Manager-Data Analyst is responsible for undertaking the
following pre-production tasks in the data conversion process: analyzing
client data, developing specifications, producing conversion samples,
and engineering a production plan. The Project Manager-Data Analyst is
also responsible for leading the conversion process, for one or multiple
concurrent projects, through the production and delivery phases. In
addition, the Project Manager-Data Analyst is also responsible for
maintaining communications with clients through the various phases of a
project.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing pre-sales support in analyzing data samples and
identifying factors that affect conversion costs;
- Undertaking detailed analysis of sample data provided by customers
in order to develop project specifications, map customer data to
stylesheets/DTDs, produce initial prototypes, and forecast resource
requirements;
- Engineering the data conversion process for customer projects,
including establishing timeframes and cost parameters, based on the
data analysis;
- Leading the multi-functional project teams in implementing the
data conversion production plan, coordinating efforts among
functional areas, as well as outside vendors, and communicating
essential information to team members;
- Assuming responsibility for communicating with customers
throughout the project and coordinating such communications with the
Sales & Marketing staff; and
- Monitoring progress and maintaining responsibility for delivering
projects on time and on budget.
Reporting Relationships
The Project Manager-Data Analyst reports directly to the General
Manager and works closely with project team members and other personnel
from functional areas. The Project Manager-Data Analyst maintains close
communications with the Sales & Marketing staff.
Qualifications
Background
- Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in electrical engineering,
computer science, industrial engineering or related field preferred
- At least 5 years of experience in data analysis or technical
management roles in the information technology industry or related
field
- Significant experience in project scheduling, expediting,
monitoring, and revising
- At least three years of experience in leading and working with
project teams in an information technology company
- In-depth experience working in data conversion or related industry
- Experience in working with owners and senior leadership of an
emerging growth company
Capabilities

establish prototypes, and to estimate timeframes and costs for
undertaking data conversions

multi-functional teams in a technical production environment

- Working knowledge of electronic data conversion business
