Conversion of Research Materials to Comply with Public/Open Access Requirements

What is it:
|
|
Whether you call it Public Access or Open Access, the meaning is the same.
A number of initiatives have recently been implemented to assure Public/Open Access to government and institutionally funded research materials.
The United States National Institutes of Health (NIH) has already recommended that all NIH funded research articles be submitted to NIH for deposit into Pubmed Central, the NIH Open Access Repository. More recently, several private funding institutions and government agencies worldwide have established similar policies, and many more are contemplating the establishment of a Public/Open Access policy.
The challenge facing organizations implementing a Public/Open Access policy is how to best to provide their data so that it is most conducive to Public/Open Access. Many organizations, including NIH, have selected XML as their target format.
